Eco Fashion Around the World

The sustainable fashion movement is gaining momentum worldwide. Initiatives like Fashion Revolution Day, Labour behind the Label and Australia’s own Undress Runways strive to push the fashion industry to new eco-friendly heights. All levels of the industry have wholeheartedly embraced the movement with sustainable, ethical and eco-conscious fashion parades popping up all over the world. So where are the best sustainable fashion shows?

1.    San Francisco Sustainable Fashion Week International’s “Green Glam Fashion Show”

Now in its second year, the San Francisco show is a culmination of a weeklong event showcasing local ethical and sustainable designers. The week’s events include educational seminars with industry leaders, social media and networking opportunities, eco-fashion documentaries, closet exchanges, and a sustainable market and trade fair.

2.     Copenhagen Fashion Summit

The Copenhagen summit is the largest sustainable fashion event in the world, with industry leaders like Livia Firth and Jason Kibbey previously speaking at the event as well as Crown Princess Mary of Denmark proudly sponsoring. The Summit hosts a glamorous Sustainable Fashion Parade showcasing innovative fashion design with Design and Denim Challenges. Following a hiatus in 2015, the Copenhagen Summit will be bigger and better in 2016.

3.     Redress Spring Fashion Show

As part of the Redress Eco-Fashion & Textiles Conference in Rayleigh, North Carolina, this parade, now in its 7th year, kicks off the conference in style.

4.     Vancouver ECO Fashion Week

Undeniably the capital of Canadian sustainable fashion, this event (now in its 9th year) coincided with Fashion Revolution Day in 2015. Hosting multiple fashion shows throughout the week, including a Pre-Loved and Vintage show, as well as parades from local sustainable designers, this event showcases all facets of the sustainable fashion movement.

5.     Undress Runways

Since 2011, Undress Runways have been propelling sustainability into the fashion limelight in Brisbane, and in recent years, in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast. Undress Runways gives emerging designers the opportunity to showcase their work to large audiences and the wider fashion community. The organisation relies on donations, sponsorships and volunteers to produce a professional runway show and a larger sustainable fashion network consisting of a fashion label, VIHN, and sustainable fashion magazine, Naked Mag. As the only sustainable runway show to visit multiple Australian cities, Undress Runways really cover all the bases in the Southern Hemisphere!

The Undress Runways shows are happening in October! Check out the website for tickets to Sustainable Fashion’s night of nights; Brisbane 10th October, Sydney 17th October, Melbourne 24th October.
